  • Manufacturing process of thick-walled stainless steel seamless pipe

    Thick-walled stainless steel pipes are mainly used for petroleum geological drilling pipes, boiler pipes, cracking pipes for petrochemical industry,bearing pipes,high-precision structural pipes for automobiles, tractors and aviation,etc.

    Manufacturing technology of thick-walled stainless steel pipes:

    Hot rolled (extruded stainless steel seamless pipe) round billet-> heating-> piercing-> three roll cross rolling, continuous rolling or extrusion-> stripping->sizing (or reducing) cooling->straightening-> water pressure test (or flaw detection) sign-> storage. 

    1.The raw material for rolling seamless pipe is round billet. It is heated in the furnace by conveyor belt. The billet is fed into the furnace and heated at a temperature of about 1200 degrees Celsius. Fuel is hydrogen or acetylene. Temperature control in furnace is a key problem. 

    2. After discharging from the furnace, the round billet is pierced by a pressure piercing machine. The common piercing machine is conical roll piercing machine. This kind of piercing machine has high production efficiency, good product quality, large piercing diameter enlargement, and can pierce many kinds of steel. 

    3. After piercing, the round billet is rolled or extruded by three rolls cross rolling

    4. After extrusion, the pipe should be taken off and calibrated. The sizing machine rotates into the steel embryo to drill holes at high speed through the conical drill bit to form the steel pipe. The inner diameter of steel pipe is determined by the length of the outer diameter of the drill bit of the sizing machine.

    5. After sizing, the steel pipe enters the cooling tower and is cooled by spraying water. 

    6. After cooling, the stainless steel pipe will be straightened. 

    7. After straightening, the stainless steel pipe is sent to metal flaw detector (or hydraulic test) by conveyor belt for internal flaw detection. If there are cracks and bubbles in the steel pipe, they will be detected. 

    8. After the quality inspection of steel pipes, strict manual selection is required,and paint the serial number, specifications, production batch number, etc.The crane is hoisted into the warehouse.
